Dental crowns and bridges are custom-fitted tooth restorations that are used to replace or restore damaged or missing teeth. Crowns – also known as “Caps” – are fixed over the surfaces of natural teeth or dental implants.
Crowns are used to cover a tooth that is likely to break or is too broken down to be restored with a normal filling. They are commonly done after root canal treatment or when a large filling breaks off or wears out. The larger the hole made by a cavity that has to be treated, the more likely a crown will be needed to prevent the tooth from breaking in the future.
Bridges are used to fill in the gaps left by missing teeth and are anchored in place by the teeth each side of the empty space. Both crowns and bridges are non-removable and must be cemented in place by a dentist. Patients who have crowns or bridges to restore their smiles achieve both the function and appearance of natural, healthy teeth.
All-ceramic crowns are fabricated by a computer designed porcelain milling system and placed in one or two dental appointments. “CEREC” is fast, safe and provides a natural-looking restoration that will stand the test of time. CEREC does more than just crowns. This revolutionary system is also used for:
